In the morning, we visited El Manzanilla, a private estate that giant tortoises
pass through. In the afternoon, we visited Galápagos National Park, where they
have tortoise nurseries to foster population growth.
The park is by the city of Puerto Ayora, and there are plenty of tourist shops
along its waterfront, including the chocolate store Chocolápagos, which of
course has chocolate turtles. A number of the shops had socks with various
Galápagos themes, including images of the blue-footed booby, but they appeared
to be missing the obvious design: socks mimicking blue-footed booby feet. After
checking out several places, one of our group found them in a shop, and now I
have a pair.
