Today we flew to Balta, one of the Galápagos islands, transferred by bus and boat and van to our hotel on Santa Cruz, and walked through a lava tube. I skipped an opportunity to visit a beach briefly and relaxed before dinner.

(There was a lot of flying on this trip: Lima to Iquitos, Iquitos to Lima, Lima to Cusco, Cusco to Lima, Lima to Quito, Quito to Galápagos, and Galápagos to Quito. It would have saved considerable time if a direct flight from Cusco to Galápagos were available.)
